The Innovations in Education Program (IIE) aims to enhance educational outcomes of K-12 First Nation students, consistent with the purpose and principles of the BC Tripartite Education Agreement [link to page]. This program supports First Nations in British Columbia to implement new education programs, strategies, and technologies, and develop evidence-based solutions to improve educational outcomes that can be shared widely.
Program funding can be used to support First Nations to improve educational outcomes by:
- piloting new innovative programs; or
- piloting adaptations of existing programs for new purposes or new audiences; and
- assessing and measuring the impact of pilot programs.
The First Nations Education Steering Committee and First Nations Schools Association manage Indigenous Services Canada’s Innovations in Education Program for the BC region.
See full details in the program guidelines.
All First Nations in British Columbia are eligible to submit a proposal for funding through this new program. Every effort will be made to ensure a regional distribution of funds.
2021-2022 IIE Proposal Form Proposals were due: November 12, 2021. Next year’s dates will be posted once available.
