Promoting Family Engagement: A Session for First Nation School Educators

The First Nations Education Steering Committee and First Nations Schools Association are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for educators in First Nation schools (K4-12) on February 23, 2026.
Family support and home-school partnerships are among the most fundamental factors influencing the lives and outcomes of children and teens. Collaborative family and community engagement practices acknowledge that families are the greatest strengths in their children’s lives, that families have the right to be involved in their children’s education, and that adult caregivers have expertise about what’s right for kids.
This one-day session will explore a new draft toolkit for schools, Promoting Family Engagement: What’s Possible? Topics will include:
- The benefits of family engagement
- How can schools promote greater family engagement?
If you are interested in learning more about the importance of engaging parents and families, this session might be for you.

Travel Expenses
- First Nation schools are invited to register up to one participant per First Nation School to attend the event. FNESC will reimburse travel and accommodation costs for approved registrants (as per FNESCs travel policies).
- This event has limited capacity and consideration will be given to regional representation.
- Once approved, hotel accommodation information will be shared with applicants.
Recording Not Permitted
Audio and video recording, AI transcription, and use of other AI tools to record the meeting is not permitted.
